Synopsis

Employers in both Jordan and Iraq must navigate evolving legal frameworks to ensure compliance and foster a conducive work environment. In Jordan, employment law is primarily governed by the Jordanian Labour Law (Jordanian Labour Law No. 8 of 1996 (as amended), which covers various aspects of the employer-employee relationship, including working conditions, leaves, and termination procedures. The law promotes fairness, non-discrimination, and occupational safety. Jordan is witnessing efforts to modernize its labour market, balancing the rights of workers with the needs of employers. In Iraq, employment law is influenced by the federal labour law (Iraqi Law No. 37 of 2015) and regulations, as well as regional laws. The legal landscape reflects a mix of civil and Islamic law principles. Key aspects include employment contracts, working conditions, and employee rights. Iraq's labour market has faced challenges due to geopolitical factors, impacting the employment landscape. Employers in both Jordan and Iraq must navigate evolving legal frameworks to ensure compliance and foster a conducive work environment.
