Alerts and reports

Solomonic has always been a useful platform from which to generate alerts/reports and to request court documents.

Alerts

The litigation alerts are a key feature of the platform. You will automatically receive a daily email alert of newly issued claims and a weekly summary alert.

These alerts can be amended in your profile settings. You can also create tailored alerts that allow you to track:

  • a specific case – when new documents are filed
  • clients/parties - every time a new case is issued by or against a client or a target
  • law firms, barristers, experts and so on

You can create alerts by clicking on the “Create alert” button in the top right of the landing page for a party or a claim.

More sophisticated bespoke alerts can be set up through the alert builder function which is accessed through your profile in the top right hand corner of the platform.

Click on My alerts and then Alert builder to be taken to a menu, from which you can create your alerts and the frequency (daily or weekly).

My alerts

Alerts can be edited and deleted by clicking on My featured alerts and then the edit box.

Reports

You can generate more sophisticated reports about clients/targets or other law firms by using the Report Builder tool.

Reports

Once created the report is emailed to you and it is also stored in your Reports page. An updated report can then be created at any time.

Client information

This is where you can find information about your clients, targets or counterparties. The dashboard on the landing page for a party tells you about their external law firms, how often they are Claimant/Defendant and their tendency to take matters to trial.

Party overview page

By clicking on the dropdown arrow next to the Overview you can access further information about the parties’ claims and key relationships including which firms they use most.

Party relationships

Finally you can use the Report Builder tool to produce a more detailed report on a client, a target or a counterparty. The report is sent to you by email and is saved in the reports section of your profile.

Sector trends

You can use Solomonic to see which parties in a sector are most frequently involved in High Court litigation. The report screenshotted below is for the consumer products sector filtered to show only claims issued between 1 January and 30 November 2023.

Parties

The report shows that our client Wolseley had issued no less than 106 claim forms in that period. Are we missing out on a work opportunity? In the case of Wolseley, almost certainly not – a few clicks tell you that Wolseley appear to have an aggressive strategy of issuing winding up petitions against their debtors, and they seem to handle all of the work in house. But useful information to share with the Client Partner for Wolseley? Why not run your own report for a sector or work type to see where opportunities might lay? Parties and filter by sector or one of the other filters hidden behind the “All filters” box. You can also run a report that shows whether the numbers of cases in a sector are increasing or reducing. Click on Claims, then Issue Year and use the filters to see a report for the sector or topic of interest. Here is a report showing the numbers of breach of contract claims issued involving clients in the TMT sector since 2017
