If the Pay Transparency Directive has not yet been transposed, what steps have been taken towards implementation?
On 27 June, 2025, the Government of Malta published in the Gazette amendments to existing Regulations to transpose some elements of the Directive. The Regulations are limited to transposing the elements of the Directive concerning pay transparency at the recruitment stage and the right of workers to request their individual pay level and the pay levels for categories of workers performing the same work as them. The Regulations will come into force on 27 August 2025. The Regulations do not cover the remaining elements of the Directive, in respect of which draft legislation has not yet been published.
