Status

The first draft was published on 9 December 2024.

To date (11 November 2025), no final legislation draft has been passed by the competent legislative bodies.

Next steps and timing

Public hearings are ongoing (most recently, on 10 November 2025), where experts and stakeholders are providing additional input. The committee will prepare recommendations and reports for the next readings (late 2025 – early 2026).

Description

The government plans to amend the Unfair Competition Act (UWG) to implement the new EU rules. The legal implementation aims for a 1:1-transposition into German law.
