Explore the current status of the CER Directive including timelines, transition periods and key national developments.

Current Status: Implemented

Expected or actual implementation date or timeline

Supporting legislation entered into force on 13 January 2026.

If implemented, whether a transition period applies and, if so, its duration

Yes, a limited transition period applies (as required under the Directive).

For entities already designated as critical infrastructure prior to the entry into force of the legislation, extended deadlines are provided for key obligations: the risk self-assessment must be completed by 1 June 2027, and the resilience plan by 1 September 2027.

The initial identification of critical infrastructure must be completed and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by 17 July 2026.

This does not constitute a general transition period, as other obligations may apply without deferral.

Other important remarks/notes

The national framework also places particular emphasis on preparedness for military threats, including the explicit consideration of military risks and the potential involvement of armed forces.

Overall, the implementation can be regarded as complete.
