Having previously been with the firm as an Associate, before moving in-house, Jenny returns as a Partner in our Atlanta office, reflecting on her time at the firm, her transition to a General Counsel role, and what drew her back.

What is your fondest memory of your time at Eversheds Sutherland?

I don’t know that I have a single fondest memory, my time at Eversheds Sutherland was full of wonderful ones. I met many of my closest friends (to this day) at or through the firm, whether at social events, retreats, or through shared work experiences. More recently, one of those close friends, Olga Greenberg, our Litigation Practice Group Leader, invited me to sit on an alumni panel at the litigation retreat alongside two more of these friends and former colleagues, Annalisa Bloodworth and Michael Freedman. It was a great opportunity to reconnect and share stories. I also have very fond memories of the mentorship I received from Bob Pile, an Atlanta Corporate Partner, while at the firm and throughout my career.

How would you describe your transition in‑house?

It felt very natural. I gravitated more toward commercial‑focused work rather than pure M&A, and in‑house roles tend to be highly collaborative, closely aligned with business goals, and more integrated into day‑to‑day decision‑making. While there can be a trade‑off financially, the overall balance and the ability to work so closely with the business made the transition an easy one for me.

What’s changed at the firm – and what feels the same?

The firm’s global reach has expanded significantly, particularly the UK/EU team’s commercial contracts practice, which I now collaborate with often. What feels the same is the collegial culture. People continue to be supportive and welcoming, and it’s always nice to see so many familiar faces.

What motivated your return to the firm?

I genuinely enjoyed my role as General Counsel and the companies I worked for, but I wanted to spend more time focused on the areas of law I’m most passionate about; commercial and technology transactions, privacy, and now AI. As many privacy lawyers naturally transition into AI‑related work, the timing and alignment felt exactly right.

Something funny or interesting people don’t know about you?

I’m extremely into Halloween. Every year, we host an adults‑only Halloween party, and my husband and I build full movie‑set‑style installations in our large basement. We’ve recreated entire scenes from movies and shows like Stranger Things, Silence of the Lambs and Beetlejuice. We have racks of costumes collected over 26 years together and let guests dress up in whatever they want. It’s our creative outlet, our kids love it too and we start preparing every year in September.
