Introduction to Solomonic
Many people are using the platform’s alerts function, whereby you are notified of new claims that are issued every day and can set email alerts for specific clients or matters. This function is very helpful, it allows us to be pro-active with our clients and has occasionally led directly to instructions. But the alerts function accounts for a tiny part of the platform’s functionality. The recently updated version 2.0 of Solomonic provides powerful data analytics that we can use for market intelligence, competitor analysis, court trends, marketing/BD, selecting barristers/experts and advising clients. Put simply it can make you more effective.

Points to note
Throughout this guide please remember that Solomonic only contains data from cases that have been issued in the High Court, so it doesn’t cover County Courts, arbitration matters or specialist tribunals. Although Solomonic is the most comprehensive UK litigation database available, it is limited to information that is publicly available. So for example the information on judgments is limited to reported decisions - but many first instance decisions are not reported of course.
Where illustrative data is given in this guide it is correct as at 1 December 2023. Where screenshots are included they are followed by hyperlinks which will take you to the up to date report/data in Solomonic, see below for an example. You need to be logged into Solomonic for the links to work.
Please note, at times the data visualised through graphs or charts may require more screen space than your device is setup to provide. You can workaround this issue by adjusting your browser view settings, zooming out until the data presents itself correctly.
