Global freezing order guide
Jurisdiction by jurisdiction
We are delighted to launch our global guide to civil freezing orders covering 90 jurisdictions across the globe.
Welcome to the Eversheds Sutherland Global Guide to Freezing Orders. Produced in collaboration with our global network of offices and relationship firms, the Guide provides a practical overview of freezing orders and their local law equivalents in 90 jurisdictions worldwide. For each jurisdiction, the Guide sets out whether a freezing order (or equivalent) can be obtained, the test for doing so and the types of assets which can be frozen. It also explains, amongst others things, the implications for third parties (such as banks) who are often notified of such orders to give effect to them, and the consequences for third parties of breach. Individual country entries can be accessed through the interactive map below or our “Explore by region” page, which can be found in the menu above. Freezing order regimes can be complex and vary between jurisdictions. This Guide is not intended as a substitute for obtaining appropriate local law advice, and therefore the contact details of the relevant local law practitioners are included at the bottom of each entry. In addition, the contact details for the key global Eversheds Sutherland practitioners can be found here via the link immediately below.
